SORAVIA hands over Hotel on the Mainz Riverside

Vienna/Mainz, January 18, 2024 – The real estate conglomerate SORAVIA transfers the hotel at the Mainz harbor basin, completed as part of the new urban quarter “Zollhafen Elements”, to H-Hotels GmbH. This represents another important step for SORAVIA in advancing the hospitality business sector in Germany, one of the core competencies of the real estate developer. SORAVIA boasts an impressive track record: Recently, the Hotel Caro & Selig at Tegernsee was successfully completed and handed over to UNION Invest. The company is also involved in the Hotel Bonvecchiati in Venice, the renowned hotel chain LOISIUM in Austria, and in innovative hospitality concepts like Numa and Ruby. With the 195-room H2 Hotel at the Mainz harbor basin, SORAVIA has once again successfully transferred to a strong partner: The Hesse-based hotel company H-Hotels, one of the largest German hotel chains with 6 different hotel brands and over 10,000 rooms. H-Hotels will operate the H2 Hotel following the transfer, while SORAVIA remains the owner. The grand opening is scheduled for February 1, 2024. The hotel has already commenced operations.

“With ‘Zollhafen Elements’, we have created a new urban quarter that offers high-quality living spaces at one of the most attractive waterfront locations in the Rhine-Main area. With this project, we were able to bring our expertise in the field of hospitality and urban quarter development and simultaneously continue our successful course in Germany. With H-Hotels and the strong H2 brand, we have found an operator perfectly suited to the hotel concept,” says Adrian Menczyk, CTO of SORAVIA Deutschland GmbH.

Thomas Haas, CEO of H-Hotels, adds: “The hotel on the Mainz Rhine riverbank underscores SORAVIA’s expertise in innovative, sustainable urban quarter development combined with modern design and the unique history of the city. This not only piques the interest of residents and tourists but also creates excellent potential for hospitality operations in combination with its integration into the promising urban district ‘Zollhafen Elements’.”

Attractive Location in the Innovative Urban Quarter “Zollhafen Elements”

The H2 Hotel Mainz includes a gross floor area of 6,800 square meters with 195 guest rooms, 45 of which are four-bed rooms designed specifically for families or travel groups. Reflecting Mainz’s city history influenced by Gutenberg, a highlight of the interior is a historical printing press located in the central meeting area typical for H2 Hotels, known as the HUB. The hotel is situated in the modern urban quarter Zollhafen, directly on the Rhine riverbank and centrally located with short distances to Mainz’s attractions. The distance to Germany’s largest airport, Frankfurt am Main, is only 30 minutes.

In addition to the H2 Hotel Mainz, the SORAVIA project “Zollhafen Elements” includes nine residential buildings with 39 condominiums and 77 rental apartments. The living units of this exclusive project vary between 70 and 160 square meters. “Zollhafen Elements” has a total of approximately 14,200 square meters of usable space, with rental apartments already acquired by QUANTUM. Condominiums are almost completely sold out.
